Carbon-Fiber Mascot Bed
A lightweight, portable carbon-fiber bed designed and fabricated for Mississippi State’s bulldog mascot.
Overview
The bed needed to support a full-grown bulldog while remaining lightweight and portable for athletics events.
My contribution
I designed the bed in SolidWorks, hot-wire cut its complex foam core, and completed the carbon-fiber layup, resolving fabrication challenges along the way.
Engineering approach
The work combined CAD geometry with hands-on foam shaping and composite fabrication. I checked stability using added weights exceeding the weight of a large bulldog.
Results & current status
MSU Athletics used the finished bed at a basketball event. The added-weight check was an informal stability check, not a certified structural test.
